Government Grants for solar panels and boiler upgrades
Solar panel grants
A grant of €850 is available to all solar systemes installed in the Republic of Ireland. There are terms and conditions to receiving this grant and all these can be read here. Grants are only available to households that were built before 2006. Also, there must be no grant received from the Greener homes scheme in the past. The new scheme for the grants is called "Better Energy programme". If you purchase a system from us, we will assist with your grant application. You must apply to SEAI for grant approval before installation. You can make your application online from here.
Simply put, you have to purchase a solar panel from a company approved and registered with SEAI (like us), and the installation has to be carried out by an approved and registered installer (like us). There is some very simple paperwork to be filled in by you.
Boiler upgrade grants
There is a grant available for €610 if you upgrade your boiler to a modern, efficient condensing boiler under the "Better Energy programme". This used to be branded the "Home Energy Savings scheme" (HES). The boiler has to be a modern efficient boiler with a high seasonal nett efficiency of at least 90%. In order to claim the grant, you also have to upgrade the central heating controls in your home. The controls upgrade generally consists of zoning the heating system and installing temperature control measures such as wall and cylinder stats and radiator TRV's. Zoning the heating system basically means that you will have independant time and temperature control over your space heating and your hot water needs. Once your heating systems controls have been upgraded and the high efficency boiler installed, you can claim your grant. Like the solar grant, approval is required in advance of the installation. Read the full terms and conditions to the HES scheme here.
