Oil Condensing Boilers

grant oil boiler

Why you should upgrade your Oil Boiler

Upgrading to a Condensing Oil Boiler can result in significant savings not just financial but in CO² emissions as well.

Even the best oil boilers require replacement approximately every 15 years. Even if you have had your boiler regularly serviced it will still undergo general wear as with any equipment with moving parts. Also within its lifetime there will have been many engineering improvements and updates which in general help make boilers run more efficiently.

Alternative Energy Ireland install Grant Engineering condensing gas oil boilers. These boilers have a great reputation and experience of boiler applications in Ireland. Grants have the highest efficiency oil boilers available in the Irish market and also have a full range of SEDBUK "A" rated condensing oil boilers.

Avail of a significant grant when you upgrade your Oil Boiler

SEAI are offering grants of €700 to everyone upgrading to a high efficiency oil boiler when you also have the compulsory after works BER cert issued. To receive this grant, you need to install the high efficiency boiler, upgrade your central heating controls and have a BER cert issued for your home after the works are complete. We can easily perform all this for you in two days. To read about the grants, click here.

Grant are one of Ireland's and the UK's leading manufacturers of quality high efficiency oil fired boilers. The company has built its reputation over many years for reliability and excellent levels of after sales service. Efforts to safeguard the environment by reducing domestic levels of energy consumption have led the company to design their unique range of ultra high efficiency Vortex oil boilers.

Zoned Heating System

A zoned heating system is a phrase that is used a lot these days, but how does this "zoned" heating system differs from a standard heating system. Firstly, you need to think of a typical standard heating system as one circuit, or "zone", with one controller, one set of pipes all linked and a pump; and when the system is turned "on" all the pipes get hot water sent to them and all the radiators heat and the hot water cylinder heats to whatever temperature the oil boiler is heating to.

If your heating system is "zoned" we separate the piping to the cylinder and the radiators into 2 separate circuits, or "zones".Therefore, you can heat the radiator zone OR the hot water cylinder zone separately, or both at the same time. This is especially convenient in the summer when you do not wish to heat your radiators but still require hot water.

Along with being able to control if one is zone is on and the other zone is off, you will also have the ability to heat the water in the cylinder to a pre-set temperature, at which point that zone (the cylinder) will shut down to prevent overheating or wasting energy. You will also be able to control the temperature of the rooms in the house with a wall temperature stat/sensor. If both the hot water and rooms are hot enough, the boiler shuts down and stops consuming oil. When the rooms or water become cold again, the boiler will start again if the controller/timer also requires heating.

The Vortex range of domestic boilers are extremely high efficiency condensing oil boilers and are all independently certified to SEDBUK Band "A" and "B". The incredible efficiency of the boiler enables Grant to lead the way by constantly looking for ways to increase the efficiency of their oil boilers. The incredible efficiency of the condensing boiler is due to the development of a single boiler unit with its two unique heat exchanger units. This additional surface area aided by the unique patented baffle design, increases the amount of heat extracted from the combustion process and thus reduces the heat wasted to the atmosphere. So much heat is extracted from the combustion gases that their water vapour element condenses into liquid form, releasing the latent heat that was used to create the vapour in the first place.

It is this heat gain that gives the condensing oil boiler its significant advantage over a non-condensing oil boiler and results in it using less fuel and having lower running costs. Because of their increased efficiency the Vortex series emit less carbon dioxide than all other domestic condensing boilers, which will contribute to efforts of reduced global warming.
